"Par le sang versé" (By the blood shed) refers to the quatrain from Pascal Bonetti's (1920) poem "Le volontaire étranger" (The Foreign Volunteer), often quoted by the French Foreign Legion: "Who knows if the unknown man who sleeps under the immense arch, blending his epic glory with the prides of the past, is not this stranger who became a son of France, not by the blood received but by the blood shed." A phrase that has become emblematic of the sacrifice of foreign combatants who died for France, particularly in Indochina.

"Par le sang versé" enamel mug. Lightweight, durable, perfect for bivouac. Hand wash only.
