The Black Tigers — nickname of Commando 24 led by Warrant Officer Roger Vandenberghe, a legend of Indochina. A counter-guerrilla unit created in 1947, composed of Vietnamese riflemen commanded by Frenchmen, famous for its ferocity and combat techniques in the Nam Dinh region. Vandenberghe, assassinated on January 5, 1952, at the age of 24, remained in the history of colonial troops as one of the greatest fighters of this war.
